The keto diet can offer a host of great benefits – improved fat-loss, boosts to mental function, and many more. The problem comes in accurately measuring your ketone levels to make sure that your body stays as optimized as possible.
By now most of us have either tried the keto diet or know someone who has. And chances are if you have tried it you can at the very least admit that it does offer some benefits.
For some people it’s not a good fit. It’s extremely restrictive which can impact your social life or even just could not be feasible in your day-to-day life. And some peoples body’s simply don’t respond well to it.
But for those of us that do choose to follow a strictly low-carb, high-fat diet the benefits really can be worth the sacrifices.
The only issue is that it’s tough to know exactly how foods affect you and whether or not they’re lowering your ketone levels. For example some people can eat a serving of carrots and see no impact whatsoever, but someone else could eat the same thing and see their ketone levels drop to 0.
That’s why having an accurate ketone meter is vital – it allows you to periodically check your ketone levels throughout the day to know exactly where you’re at, so that you can best optimize your health and performance.
You’ll find our top 3 favorite ketone test meters below – complete with an instructional video showing exactly how the meters work (spoiler: it takes less than a minute to do a test).

FULL BREAKDOWN: Top 3 Best Ketone Test Meters for 2022
Full Breakdown

#1. KETO-MOJO GK+ Bluetooth Glucose & Ketone Testing Kit
- Next-generation meter with Bluetooth integration
- Glucose and ketone monitoring
- Best phone app we’ve come across
- Accurate, real-time monitoring straight to your phone
- Affordable testing strips
First up on our list is hands-down the best portable ketone meter that we’ve found thus far: the KetoMojo GK+ Ketone & Glucose Monitor.
This meter has become a mainstay for everyone on our team that practices the keto diet. It easily links to your phone over Bluetooth, allowing you to use their app to easily track and monitor ketone levels.
And what’s more, the meter can also test and track blood glucose levels which can be extremely beneficial to asses how food affects your blood sugar level.
We really have nothing bad to say about this meter – it’s easy to use, the test strips are affordable, testing is essentially painless given their advanced design, and the results are fast and accurate.
For those of you unaware with the process, you simply prick your finger with the included lancet device (again, this is basically painless), touch the strip to the blood and insert it into the meter. From there the device does all the rest. The whole process takes less than a minute – you can learn more in the video below.

#2. KetoCoach Blood Ketone Meter
- Bluetooth compatible
- Easy-to-use phone app and large device screen
- Affordable test strips
- Lab tested accuracy and precision
Our runner-up on the list of the best ketone test meters is the KetoCoach Blood Ketone Meter.
This meter has a very similar usage process as the KetoMojo, however it comes at a slightly higher price and we’ve found that their phone app is a bit harder to navigate.
Still, it offers Bluetooth integration for easy testing with quick, accurate results. It’s still a great option if for some reason the KetoMojo is unavailable.

#3. KetoSens Blood Ketone Monitoring Starter Kit
- Affordable price makes for a great starter kit
- No Bluetooth/phone integration
- Affordable test strips
- Large easy-to-read screen
If you’re just getting started and looking for more of a budget option then the KetoSens is for you.
This meter also follows the same operating procedures as the KetoMojo when it comes to sample collection – the only difference is that it has no Bluetooth integration or phone tracking app.
The meter is still perfectly accurate, which we confirmed by doing a side-by-side test of all three meters with the same blood sample and all came out the same.
The only downside of the KetoSense is that it doesn’t offer the historical tracking of the other two – all you get is the one-time readout of the current test on the screen.
Still, the KetoSens is easy to use and offers a large LCD screen to display the results. It’s a great option if you’re looking for a more budget-friendly ketone test meter.
